Getting your hands on a host company for an internship is usually the most difficult step to overcome. Here are some tips and tips to make your searches more effective.
First, the tool most commonly used, and still the easiest to access for students seeking work placements, is the list of internships obtained by former students in their school. There are companies dealing with specific areas of training and, above all, direct contact between students (sometimes even a company representative). If you find some placements or companies interesting, contact these people directly to find out more. They will advise you and, if necessary, refer you to another person.
Another way to run its network is through the use of social networks, particularly LinkedIn. This app offers internships and you can apply directly. But the major advantage is the presence of an infinite number of companies and employees in the areas that interest you. You will certainly find "1ers" or "2nd" in companies that can accommodate you. If so, leave them a message.
The general idea for a placement abroad is first to define the geographical area you are aiming for. Then, if possible, define the country and the city in such a way that research is targeted and opportunities are reduced. This will allow you to find and solicit companies dealing with topics that match your needs, contact their employees and advance your research. For example, in Cambodia, a site lists companies (specific to the energy sector) that are ready to host trainees:
If there is one thing to remember, it is that we must move forward and chat with many people as possible who have lived there or are still living there. People are very happy to be able to help you and to share their experience with someone who is interested. So take advantage of it, it can only help you to advance your research!
I would, of course, like to add a more personal touch to this advice, since I, for my part, have had the opportunity to be accompanied by former students from my school, bringing together students and companies from around the world. Having simply indicated to them that I wanted to do a traineeship abroad in the field of renewable energy, they found me a traineeship in this field in Cambodia. Please feel free to contact their service via their LinkedIn page "What a Job!" they will know how to helps you.
